Bengal

Description / History

The Bengal is descended from a cross between wild Asian Leopard Cats and domestic shorthairs. It is a large cat with a short glossy coat.

While most commonly seen in the spotted tabby pattern, they may also be found in the marbled pattern (classic tabby).

Well-bred Bengals are active, intelligent companions. Buyers should ask how many generations removed Bengal kittens are from wild blood; the best companion cats are at least four generations removed. Most pet Bengals are wild only in looks, not in personality.

Weight: 9-12 lbs.

Eyes: The Bengals eyes are large and round.  The color is amber or green.

Coat: Length short to medium; texture thick, luxurious, and unusually soft to the touch.

Associations: The Bengal are only accepted in most associations except CFA.
